  The first phase was meant to roll out by mid-2025, but has been delayed, with no revised date offered by NZTA.

The nationwide public transport ticketing system, known as Motu Move, has faced another delay and is now expected to be implemented in 2026, as announced by Transport Minister Simeon Brown. Originally planned for a 2024 rollout, the project has been pushed back due to the need for further development and testing to ensure a smooth transition for users. The system aims to replace the existing fragmented ticketing systems across New Zealand with a unified platform, allowing for easier travel and payment across different regions. Despite the delay, the government remains committed to the project, emphasizing its potential to enhance the public transport experience nationwide.
