Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari has proposed developing land owned by Regional Transport Offices (RTOs) across India on a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model to prevent encroachments and generate revenue. Speaking at the 28th National Conference of Transport Ministers in Bhopal, Gadkari highlighted that many RTOs have valuable land holdings that are often encroached upon. By developing these lands through PPP, the government aims to utilize the space effectively, prevent unauthorized occupation, and create additional income streams. The minister also discussed other transport-related issues, including the need for better road safety measures and the promotion of electric vehicles.
