The family of a Bastrop man, who was killed in a car crash involving a 14-year-old driver, has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the teenager's mother. The incident occurred on January 10, 2023, when the teen, driving a 2006 Toyota Tundra, crashed into the victim's vehicle on FM 1209. The lawsuit claims that the mother was negligent in allowing her son to drive without a license, supervision, or insurance, and that she failed to properly supervise him, knowing his history of reckless behavior. The crash resulted in the death of the 45-year-old man, and the lawsuit seeks damages for his pain and suffering, mental anguish, and loss of companionship, among other claims.
