Austin ISD bus swerves off-road, 2 adults transported to hospital

Austin ISD confirmed to KXAN that a school bus crashed near Steck Avenue Wednesday morning.

An Austin Independent School District bus carrying 55 students from Northeast Early College High School swerved off the road and into a ditch on February 24, 2023, near the intersection of FM 973 and Braker Lane in Austin, Texas. The incident occurred around 3:30 p.m. when the bus driver lost control, but fortunately, no injuries were reported among the students or the driver. The students were safely evacuated and transported back to their school on another bus. The cause of the driver losing control is under investigation, and the bus was removed from the ditch by a tow truck.
