Kilmar Abrego Garcia is on a plane headed back to the U.S., according to ABC News.

Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a Maryland resident, was mistakenly deported to El Salvador in 2018 while facing criminal charges for transporting illegal migrants, despite a court order to remain in the U.S. until his case was resolved. After his deportation, he was imprisoned in El Salvador on unrelated charges and became affiliated with the MS-13 gang. U.S. authorities, under the Trump administration, were unable to bring him back for his trial due to his incarceration. Recently, after serving his sentence in El Salvador, Abrego Garcia was returned to the U.S. to face his original charges, highlighting issues with ICE's coordination and the complexities of immigration and criminal justice systems.
