  • 13-year-old Yashavi Upasani has been sharing her stories for years. "I always loved to tell stories and in elementary school, I'd have kids line up in front of my desk to hear my stories," she said. By first grade, Upasani began putting those stories on paper. "She had this love of language to begin with and I think she writes really well. She can pick up a topic and make it very easy to understand," said Upasani's mother Sanskruti.

During her summer break, Chantilly High School junior Sophia Li not only published articles in prestigious outlets like the Washington Post and the Diplomatic Courier but also released her first book, "The Art of Diplomacy: A Young Person's Guide to Understanding International Relations." Inspired by her participation in the Youth for Understanding exchange program in Germany, Sophia's book aims to make the complex world of international relations accessible to young readers. Her work has been recognized by the U.S. Department of State, and she continues to engage in educational and diplomatic activities, including a planned trip to the United Nations. Sophia's achievements highlight her dedication to fostering global understanding and education among her peers.
