Louisville nonprofit gets boost in effort to tackle transportation barriers for students in need

  • Metro United Way said transportation barriers are among the top reasons students miss school, struggle with academics, or are unable to participate in extracurricular activities.

The Louisville nonprofit, Sowing Seeds with Faith, has received a significant boost in its efforts to address transportation barriers for students in need, thanks to a $100,000 grant from the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels. This funding will enable the organization to purchase a new van, which is crucial for transporting students to and from school, as well as to various educational and extracurricular activities. The initiative aims to support students from low-income families, ensuring they have reliable transportation to access educational opportunities that might otherwise be out of reach. The new van is expected to significantly enhance the nonprofit's capacity to serve more students and help them overcome transportation challenges that can impact their academic success.
