Ozark Greenways is one of the success stories in Springfield's Community Focus Report. Trails get blue ribbons in the Transportation and Recreation, Sports, and Leisure categories. Ozark Greenways has a new leader and faces new challenges. An expected multimillion dollar grant was paused recently because of federal budget cuts.

Ozark Greenways, a non-profit organization dedicated to developing and maintaining greenways and trails in southwest Missouri, has appointed Gary Poyner as its new executive director. Poyner, who previously served as the organization's director of development, steps into his new role amid several challenges, including securing funding for ongoing and future projects and addressing the increasing demand for accessible outdoor recreational spaces. The organization is currently working on several key initiatives, such as the expansion of the Frisco Highline Trail and the development of the Galloway Creek Greenway. Poyner's leadership is expected to help Ozark Greenways navigate these challenges and continue its mission of enhancing the region's quality of life through the creation of interconnected green spaces.
