Auckland Transport putting up parking prices from mid-April

Auckland Transport is set to increase parking prices starting from mid-April, with hourly rates rising from $1 to $2 in the city centre and from $1 to $1.50 in other areas. The daily cap will also see an increase, going from $8 to $12 in the city centre and from $5 to $8 elsewhere. These changes aim to encourage the use of alternative transport modes like walking, cycling, and public transport, aligning with the city's environmental goals. Additionally, the revenue generated will help fund transport projects. The new rates will be implemented in two phases, with the first phase starting on 15 April and the second on 1 July.
