Thane, Apr 26 (PTI) The Motor Accident Claims Tribunal in Maharashtra's Thane has ordered the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) to pay Rs 14,850 to the Thane Municipal Corporation's transport body for causing damage to the latter's bus in a collision in 2017. The tribunal passed the order on April 19 and it was […]
The Maharashtra State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission has ordered the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) to pay Rs 14,850 to the Thane Municipal Transport (TMT) for damages caused to a TMT bus in a collision with a BEST bus on August 27, 2018. The tribunal's decision came after TMT filed a complaint stating that the BEST bus driver's negligence led to the accident, resulting in damages to the TMT bus's front bumper and other parts. Despite BEST's argument that the TMT bus driver was also at fault, the tribunal found BEST liable and directed them to pay the compensation along with 12% interest per annum from the date of the complaint until realization, and an additional Rs 5,000 towards the cost of the proceedings.
