City of Monmouth receives project funding from the Illinois Department of Transportation

The funding will go towards the Harlem Avenue Reconstruction Project.
The City of Monmouth has been awarded $1.5 million in funding from the Illinois Department of Transportation's Economic Development Program to support the reconstruction of South 1st Street, from U.S. 34 to South D Street. This project aims to enhance the road's condition, improve safety, and support economic development in the area. The funding will cover the costs of reconstructing the street, including new pavement, curbs, gutters, and storm sewers. The project is expected to begin in the spring of 2026 and be completed by the fall of the same year.
