One person was transported to the hospital after a house caught fire in New Market on Tuesday morning.

On April 22, 2025, a house fire in New Market, caused by a lightning strike, resulted in one person being transported to the hospital. The incident occurred around 3 p.m. on Rose Valley Drive, where the lightning strike not only ignited the fire but also caused significant damage to the home. Firefighters from the New Market Volunteer Fire Department responded promptly, managing to control the blaze. The individual taken to the hospital was treated for smoke inhalation and minor injuries. The Red Cross is assisting the displaced residents, and an investigation into the full extent of the damage is ongoing.
