  • A woman gave birth to a baby girl on board a subway train in New York City Wednesday. It happened on a southbound W train at the 34th Street-Herald Square subway station in Manhattan around 11:30 a.m., according to the MTA.

A woman unexpectedly gave birth on a New York City subway train on April 18, 2023. The incident occurred on a southbound F train approaching the 23rd Street station in Chelsea. The mother, who was already in labor, was assisted by two nurses who happened to be on the same train. They helped deliver the baby before emergency medical services arrived. The newborn and mother were both reported to be in good condition and were taken to Bellevue Hospital for further care. The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) humorously congratulated the new mother on social media, noting that the baby would forever have a unique birth story.
