New Zealand Transport Agency working on national plan to toll roads

Currently, three highways have tolls.

The New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA) is developing a national plan to implement toll roads across the country, aiming to address funding challenges for road maintenance and construction. This initiative follows the successful implementation of tolls on the Takitimu Northern Link in Tauranga, which has been well-received by the public. The plan involves identifying potential toll road locations, assessing their feasibility, and engaging with communities to ensure the tolling system is fair and effective. NZTA's approach includes considering various tolling technologies and models to optimize traffic flow and revenue generation, with the goal of improving the overall transport network in New Zealand.
