Panaji, May 25 (PTI) The Goa Transport Aggregator Guidelines 2025 aimed at modernising the taxi sector by facilitating app-based convenience while protecting the interests of local drivers has been notified by the state government, an official said on Sunday. The policy addresses long-standing challenges such as the lack of digital access in the taxi system [ ]
The Goa government has introduced the Goa Transport Aggregator Guidelines 2025, effective from June 1, 2024, to regulate app-based taxi and bike services, ensuring benefits for drivers and affordable rides for passengers. These guidelines mandate that aggregators must register with the state transport authority and comply with safety and operational standards. Key features include a cap on commissions at 10% of the ride fare, ensuring drivers receive at least 90% of the fare, and the provision of social security benefits like insurance and provident fund contributions for drivers. Additionally, the guidelines aim to enhance passenger safety through mandatory police verification of drivers and the installation of panic buttons in vehicles. The move is expected to create a more structured and fair environment for both drivers and passengers in Goa.
