Two Brownfield residents admitted to conspiring to transport undocumented immigrants for payment.
On May 29, 2025, two Brownfield residents, Juan Manuel Tena and his wife Alexis, were found guilty in a federal court in Midland, Texas, of transporting undocumented immigrants. The couple was arrested on March 15, 2024, after a traffic stop revealed six undocumented immigrants in their vehicle. The immigrants, who were from Mexico and Guatemala, were being transported from El Paso to Dallas. Tena and Alexis face up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine. Their sentencing is scheduled for August 15, 2025.
