Cristina Ceja, 28, of Turlock, was sentenced to 15 years and eight months in federal prison for transporting a minor across state lines for the purpose of engaging in criminal sexual activity.

A Turlock man, identified as 34-year-old Juan Carlos Flores Flores, was sentenced to 15 years to life in prison for the second-degree murder of his girlfriend, 32-year-old Maria Guadalupe Garcia, whom he stabbed to death in their home on November 16, 2021. The sentencing took place on a Friday, following Flores' conviction in May. The couple's two children, aged 10 and 12, witnessed the murder. Stanislaus County Superior Court Judge Carrie Stephens handed down the sentence, emphasizing the impact of the crime on the children and the community. The case was prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Vaughn Middlebrooks, who highlighted the brutality of the crime and its lasting effects on the victims' family.
