Majority said they still see health benefits in EV goals for 2035
A recent poll conducted by the Rutgers-Eagleton Poll in New Jersey revealed that a majority of residents oppose the state's plan to phase out gas-powered cars by 2035, with 58% of respondents against the proposal. The opposition stems from concerns over the cost of electric vehicles (EVs), the lack of charging infrastructure, and the belief that the transition period is too short. Despite the opposition, there is some support for the initiative, particularly among younger residents and Democrats, with 39% of respondents favoring the phase-out. The poll highlights the challenges New Jersey faces in meeting its environmental goals and the need for more public education and infrastructure development to increase acceptance of EVs.
