FG rolls out CNG buses, bicycles to universities to cut transportation costs

The Federal Government of Nigeria, through the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative (PCNGI), has launched Project SPRING (Student Programme for Redeployment of Idle Natural Gas) aimed at deploying Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) vehicles and bicycles in universities across the country. Unveiled by the Minister of Education, Prof. Tahir Mamman, and the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Rt. Hon. Ekperikpe Ekpo, the initiative seeks to reduce transportation costs for students and promote the use of cleaner energy. The project will start with a pilot phase in 12 universities, providing CNG-powered buses and tricycles, and is part of a broader strategy to transition Nigeria towards more sustainable energy sources.
