The plane damaged runway lights and its landing gear.

The Transport Accident Investigation Commission (TAIC) reported that a pilot of an Air New Zealand plane disengaged the autopilot too late during a landing at Auckland Airport, causing the aircraft to veer off the runway. The incident occurred on January 27, 2023, and involved a Boeing 777-300ER arriving from Sydney. The TAIC's preliminary findings indicate that the late disengagement led to the plane landing long and to the left of the centerline, resulting in the aircraft exiting the runway and coming to a stop on the grass. No injuries were reported among the 225 passengers and crew on board, but the event has prompted a review of Air New Zealand's operational procedures and training.
