The deadly explosion happened just after 10:30 a.m. on Saturday on a New York City-owned motor vessel named "Hunts Point."
On July 25, 2023, a fatal explosion occurred on a sewage transport vessel in the Hudson River near Pier 84 in Midtown Manhattan, New York City, resulting in one person's death and injuries to two others. The incident happened around 1:30 p.m. when the boat, operated by New York City's Department of Environmental Protection, was transporting sewage. The explosion led to a significant emergency response, with the injured being transported to a local hospital. The cause of the explosion is under investigation, and the identity of the deceased has not been released.
