Transport Body Asked To Pay 37 Lakh To Boy As Accident Leaves His Hand Crippled

The Motor Accident Claims Tribunal in Pimpri, Maharashtra, has ordered Amba Transport to pay Rs 37 lakh in compensation to a 12-year-old boy who suffered a permanent disability in his right hand due to an accident involving one of their vehicles in 2019. The tribunal's decision, announced on May 15, 2024, mandates that the compensation be paid within a month, with an additional 7% annual interest if delayed. The boy, who was a pedestrian at the time of the incident, underwent multiple surgeries but continues to face challenges in daily activities due to his impaired hand function.
