According to a spokesperson from the Coast Guard, members of the Merrimack River Station had recieved a call from a concerned person near Joppa Flats regarding two women who were swept away while swimming.

The U.S. Coast Guard successfully rescued two women who were stranded on Cay Sal, a small island in the Bahamas, after their vessel became disabled. The women were first spotted by a Coast Guard Air Station Miami Auxiliary aircrew during a routine patrol on November 27, 2023. They were provided with food, water, and a radio to maintain communication. On November 29, 2023, the Coast Guard Cutter Paul Clark crew safely transported the women back to the U.S., where they were handed over to U.S. Customs and Border Protection in Key West, Florida.
