The UK Transport Secretary, Mark Harper, stated that there was no single point of failure during the power outage at London Heathrow Airport on December 14, 2023, which led to the cancellation of 15 flights and delays for thousands of passengers. The incident, which lasted about an hour, was caused by a failure in the electrical supply system, but Harper emphasized that the airport's backup systems functioned as intended, preventing a more severe disruption. He also mentioned that the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) is reviewing the event to ensure that lessons are learned and that future resilience is improved.
