Scammers claim to be with the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT), saying you owe money for a traffic ticket.

The Missouri Department of Transportation has issued a warning about a text message scam that claims recipients have outstanding toll fees and directs them to a fraudulent website to pay. The scam, which has been reported by several individuals, uses a text message that appears to come from "MO River Toll" and includes a link to a site designed to mimic the official Missouri toll payment portal. The department emphasizes that it does not send text messages for toll payments and advises the public not to click on suspicious links or provide personal information. Instead, any legitimate toll payment issues should be addressed through the official website or by calling customer service directly.
