Bison gores New Jersey man visiting Yellowstone National Park

It was the second time this year a park visitor was injured by a bison after getting too close to the wild animal.

A 47-year-old man from New Jersey was gored by a bison while visiting Yellowstone National Park on June 28, 2022. The incident occurred near the Lake Lodge Cabins on the north shore of Lake Yellowstone, resulting in the man sustaining significant injuries to his abdomen and chest. He was airlifted to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center for treatment. Park officials remind visitors to maintain a distance of at least 25 yards from bison and other large animals, and 100 yards from bears and wolves, to ensure safety. This event marks the first reported bison goring of the year in the park.
