  Gov. Ron DeSantis signed two pieces of legislation aimed at enhancing Florida's strengths in aerospace, transportation and advanced mobility innovation.


Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed two bills into law on May 30, 2023, aimed at bolstering the state's aerospace industry and workforce development. The first bill, HB 9, allocates $25 million to the Florida Department of Transportation to support aerospace infrastructure projects, including spaceport improvements and research and development facilities. The second bill, SB 1318, establishes the Florida Space Exploration Monument to honor the state's contributions to space exploration and creates the Aerospace and Defense Workforce Conversion Program to help workers transition into the aerospace industry. These initiatives are part of DeSantis' broader strategy to position Florida as a leader in the aerospace sector and to foster economic growth through job creation and industry development.
