Ukrainian refugee admits coming to Gulf Shores to transport woman to Brooklyn brothel

A Ukrainian war refugee connected to a human smuggling ring has agreed to plead guilty to federal charges related to a job transporting a Russian woman from Gulf Shores to New York.
A Ukrainian refugee, who came to the U.S. under the Uniting for Ukraine program, admitted to transporting a woman from Gulf Shores, Alabama, to a brothel in Brooklyn, New York. The 34-year-old man, identified as Maksym or Max, pleaded guilty to charges of transporting an individual across state lines for prostitution. He met the victim, a 22-year-old woman, at a bar in Gulf Shores and convinced her to travel with him to New York, where he took her to a brothel. The case highlights the exploitation of vulnerable individuals and the misuse of humanitarian programs designed to aid refugees.
