  • South Africa and the Democratic Republic of Congo embark on an ambitious industrial corridor project spanning 3 100km, with plans for 12 special economic zones set to transform trade relations between the two nations.

The South African and Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) governments have launched a R3 billion trade corridor initiative aimed at enhancing economic ties and revolutionizing trade across Africa. This ambitious project, announced during a state visit by DRC President Felix Tshisekedi to South Africa, seeks to streamline logistics, reduce trade barriers, and foster economic growth between the two nations. The corridor will connect key economic zones, facilitating the movement of goods, services, and people, thereby boosting intra-African trade. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to leverage the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) agreement, aiming to create a single continental market for goods and services, with the potential to significantly increase trade volumes and economic integration across the continent.
