  • Car production in Thailand dropped 13.62% in February from a year earlier, as a lengthy decline in domestic sales and exports squeezed output for a 19th straight month, the Federation of Thai Industries said on Tuesday.

In February 2025, Thailand's car production experienced a significant decline, dropping by 13.6% year-on-year, as reported by the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI). This downturn was attributed to weaker domestic sales and a decrease in exports. Specifically, domestic car sales fell by 28.6% from the previous year, while exports saw a reduction of 10.3%. The FTI highlighted that the global economic slowdown and high household debt in Thailand were major factors contributing to the reduced demand for vehicles. Additionally, the production of pickup trucks, a staple in Thailand's automotive sector, decreased by 17.6%. Despite these challenges, there is an expectation of a slight recovery in the second half of 2025, although the overall market conditions remain uncertain.
