The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said on Wednesday it has closed an investigation on Daimler Truck's 313,101 North American vehicles over an engine wiring concern.
The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has concluded its investigation into 313,101 Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) vehicles from model years 2017-2022, focusing on potential engine wiring issues that could lead to fires. The investigation, which began in May 2023, was prompted by reports of thermal events in the engine wiring harnesses. NHTSA found that while there were incidents, the issue did not pose an unreasonable risk to safety, leading to the closure of the probe without requiring a recall. However, DTNA has agreed to extend the warranty coverage for the affected wiring harnesses to 10 years or 1 million miles, whichever comes first, to address customer concerns.
