The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has initiated an investigation into over 129,000 Ford Motor Co. vehicles equipped with BlueCruise, a hands-free driving technology, following two fatal crashes involving Mustang Mach-E SUVs. The probe aims to assess the system's performance and its driver monitoring capabilities. The incidents occurred when the vehicles, operating in BlueCruise mode, collided with stationary vehicles on highways. This investigation will determine if a recall is necessary to address potential safety issues with the technology. Ford has confirmed its cooperation with the NHTSA, emphasizing their commitment to safety and the ongoing development of their advanced driver assistance systems.
