Pennsylvania Attorney General Michelle Henry has issued a warning to residents about a new scam involving jury duty, where fraudsters impersonate law enforcement officers to demand payment for allegedly missing jury duty. The scammers use real names of law enforcement officials and spoof phone numbers to appear legitimate, threatening victims with arrest if they do not pay fines through methods like gift cards or electronic transfers. Henry emphasized that legitimate court or law enforcement agencies do not request payments in such manners and advised the public to verify any such claims directly with the court or law enforcement. She also encouraged reporting these scams to her office's Bureau of Consumer Protection.
