2 charged in hit-and-run Waukegan crash that killed teen bicyclist
- Two drivers have been charged in a hit-and-run crash that killed a teen bicyclist in the north suburbs earlier this month, Waukegan police said Wednesday.
Two individuals, a 20-year-old man from Waukegan and a 19-year-old woman from North Chicago, have been charged in connection with a hit-and-run incident that occurred on January 1, 2023, in Waukegan, Illinois. The incident involved a 2010 Nissan Altima striking a 2016 Kia Sorento, which then crashed into a tree, resulting in the death of the Kia's driver, a 46-year-old woman from Waukegan. The male suspect was charged with reckless homicide and leaving the scene of a fatal accident, while the female was charged with obstructing justice. The investigation into the crash is ongoing, with authorities seeking additional information from the public.
