The Transportation Security Administration reports that, as of April 15, it has intercepted 46 firearms at airports across Louisiana, 28 of which were found at the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport.

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) intercepted 28 firearms at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) in 2022, marking a significant increase from the 13 firearms detected in 2021. This surge in firearm discoveries at DCA, which is the busiest airport in the Washington, D.C. area, underscores a growing trend of passengers attempting to bring guns through security checkpoints. The TSA emphasizes that firearms are strictly prohibited in carry-on bags and must be properly declared and packed in checked luggage if passengers wish to travel with them. Violators face potential fines up to $15,000, and the TSA continues to enhance its security measures to prevent such incidents.
