GM is temporarily halting production of its electric commercial van at its assembly plant in Ontario due to slow sales, the company and union representing workers there said.
General Motors (GM) has announced a temporary halt in the production of its electric delivery vans at its Ingersoll, Ontario plant, operated by CAMI Assembly, to better align with market demand. The pause, set to begin on January 1, 2024, and last until spring, aims to adjust production schedules and ensure the plant's readiness for future electric vehicle (EV) production. During this period, GM will continue to produce vans to fulfill existing orders, and the company is also planning to introduce a new electric vehicle model at the facility. This strategic move reflects GM's commitment to meeting customer needs while advancing its EV production capabilities.
