The Biden administration has not met its targets for transitioning the U.S. government's vehicle fleet to electric vehicles (EVs), according to a report by the Government Accountability Office (GAO) released on December 17, 2024. The report highlights that while the administration aimed to increase the number of zero-emission vehicles in the federal fleet, progress has been slower than anticipated. Challenges include supply chain issues, inadequate charging infrastructure, and the need for more comprehensive planning and coordination across federal agencies. Despite these setbacks, the administration remains committed to its goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions from federal operations, with plans to enhance EV adoption through new strategies and funding.
