  • Incoming U.S. President Donald Trump's transition team is recommending sweeping changes to cut off support for electric vehicles and charging stations and to strengthen measures blocking cars, components and battery materials from China,

The Trump transition team is reportedly planning a significant rollback of Biden administration's electric vehicle (EV) emissions policies if Donald Trump wins the 2024 presidential election. According to sources cited by Reuters, the team aims to dismantle regulations that push for increased EV adoption, including the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) tailpipe emissions rules which are designed to ensure that up to two-thirds of new vehicles sold in the U.S. could be electric by 2032. The strategy involves not only reversing these EV mandates but also potentially withdrawing from California's authority to set its own, stricter emissions standards. This move is part of a broader initiative to reduce regulatory burdens on the automotive industry, focusing instead on enhancing domestic oil and gas production. The plans reflect Trump's previous administration's approach to environmental deregulation and could significantly alter the trajectory of EV market growth in the U.S.
