  • At one point, REO Motor Car Company employed 10% of the Lansing population and today, the R.E. Olds Museum is recognizing the impact the company had on the auto industry and Lansing.

The R.E. Olds Transportation Museum in Lansing, Michigan, is celebrating the 120th anniversary of the REO Motor Car Company with a special exhibit titled "120 Years of REO." This exhibit showcases the history of the company, which was founded by Ransom Eli Olds in 1905 after he left Oldsmobile. The museum features a collection of REO vehicles, including trucks, cars, and speed wagons, along with historical artifacts like photographs, advertisements, and personal items from the Olds family. The celebration highlights the significant contributions of REO to the automotive industry, particularly in the production of trucks, and underscores the company's legacy in Lansing, where it was a major employer and innovator until its closure in 1975. The exhibit not only honors the past but also aims to educate visitors about the evolution of transportation and the impact of local industry on the community.
