Stellantis announced on Thursday the launch of its first in-house-developed automated driving system, STLA AutoDrive, designed to allow urban commuters to momentarily engage in non-driving tasks.

Stellantis, the parent company of brands like Jeep and Chrysler, announced on February 20, 2025, that it will introduce its first in-house developed automated driving technology in 2025. This technology, named STLA AutoDrive, will be integrated into vehicles across its various brands, offering features like automated lane changes, ramp-to-ramp assistance, and the ability to handle complex urban environments. The system aims to provide a Level 3 autonomous driving capability, where the car can manage most driving tasks under certain conditions, but the driver must be ready to take control if necessary. This move is part of Stellantis's broader strategy to enhance vehicle safety, reduce driver fatigue, and stay competitive in the rapidly evolving automotive market, particularly against rivals like Tesla and Waymo who are also advancing in autonomous driving technologies.
