We want development in line with the heritage. We have ensured there will be no construction around the prohibited area of the bricks minarets. It will be developed as a pedestrian plaza where people can come and go.

The redevelopment plan for Ahmedabad Railway Station includes a significant focus on preserving the city's heritage by ensuring that protected monuments like the Jhoolta Minara and the Kalupur Swaminarayan Mandir are not impacted. The plan, which was discussed in a meeting involving the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC), and the Ahmedabad Railway Division, proposes to maintain a wide berth around these monuments to avoid any construction-related damage. The project, costing Rs 2,692 crore, aims to enhance the station's capacity to handle up to 1.4 lakh passengers daily by 2060, while also incorporating modern amenities like multi-level parking, a roof plaza, and improved connectivity. The ASI has emphasized the need for a heritage impact assessment to ensure the preservation of these historical structures during the redevelopment.
