The UK achieved a new milestone in electric vehicle (EV) adoption last month, with EVs accounting for over 25% of all car registrations in November, according to New AutoMotive's Electric Car Count.

In November, electric vehicle (EV) sales in the UK reached a record high, capturing a 25% market share, according to the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT). This surge was driven by a 20.1% increase in new car registrations, with battery electric vehicles (BEVs) seeing a 47.8% rise in sales, totaling 36,370 units. This growth was supported by the introduction of new models and improved supply chains, although the overall market share for EVs was slightly lower than the previous month due to a broader increase in car sales. Despite the positive trend, the SMMT highlighted that the UK is still not on track to meet its 2030 target for ending sales of new petrol and diesel cars, emphasizing the need for more incentives and infrastructure to boost EV adoption.
