US light vehicle sales to rise 6% in November, report says
- Automotive data firm S&P Global Mobility said on Monday it expects U.S. light vehicle sales to be up 6% in November from a year ago.
According to a report by GlobalData, U.S. light vehicle sales in November 2024 rose by 6% compared to the same month in the previous year, driven by strong demand for electric and hybrid vehicles. The report highlights that despite high interest rates and economic uncertainties, consumer interest in sustainable transportation options continued to grow. Sales of electric vehicles (EVs) surged by 25%, while hybrid vehicles saw an increase of 15%. Traditional internal combustion engine vehicles also saw a modest rise of 3%. The data suggests that manufacturers' investments in EV infrastructure and incentives are paying off, although challenges such as supply chain issues and the need for more widespread charging infrastructure persist.
