The Collector of Nizamabad, Rajeevgandhi Hanumanthu, has warned that criminal cases will be filed against those transporting jowar from neighboring states into Telangana, as it is illegal under the state's Agricultural Produce and Livestock Marketing Act. This action is being taken to protect local farmers from the adverse effects of cheaper jowar imports, which have led to a significant drop in local jowar prices. The Collector emphasized that strict measures, including vehicle seizures and legal action, will be enforced to curb this illegal activity, and he urged the public to report any instances of jowar smuggling to the authorities.
