American Battery Technology Company (ABTC) has been awarded a $144 million grant from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to advance its battery recycling and manufacturing capabilities. This funding, part of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, will support the construction of a commercial-scale facility in Nevada for recycling lithium-ion batteries and manufacturing battery-grade materials. The project aims to enhance domestic production of critical minerals, reduce reliance on foreign supply chains, and promote a circular economy for battery materials. ABTC's initiative includes developing a first-of-its-kind integrated process to recycle end-of-life batteries, manufacturing scrap, and gigafactory waste into new battery materials, thereby supporting the growth of the electric vehicle market and contributing to national energy security.
