On April 12, 2025, San Diego Padres' second baseman Luis Arraez was involved in a frightening collision during a game against the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park. The incident occurred in the top of the seventh inning when Arraez collided with Red Sox shortstop Trevor Story while attempting to steal second base. Arraez remained on the ground for several minutes before being attended to by medical personnel and was subsequently transported to a local hospital for further evaluation. The Padres later announced that Arraez was conscious and alert, but would remain in the hospital overnight for observation. The game, which the Red Sox won 4-2, was temporarily halted as players from both teams gathered around Arraez, showing concern for his well-being.
