Chevron Corp. has announced plans to upgrade its Pasadena, Texas, refinery to increase its renewable diesel production capacity. The project aims to convert the facility to produce more than 50% renewable diesel, aligning with the company's strategy to lower carbon emissions and meet growing demand for sustainable fuels. The upgrade includes modifications to existing units to process renewable feedstocks like used cooking oil, animal fats, and other waste oils. This initiative is part of Chevron's broader commitment to reducing its environmental footprint and enhancing its portfolio of lower carbon energy products. The project is expected to be completed by 2024, significantly boosting the production of renewable diesel, which can be used as a direct replacement for petroleum diesel in existing engines.
